Detroit Lions Week 1 Prediction
We have been waiting for this moment. 9-8 used to be the record that Detroit Lions Fans used to beg for, and now we think of it as a disappointing season. The team is somewhat injured, but I think we have everyone that we need to beat the Saints in Week 1.
Our offense is what Madden fans would dream of. A strong offensive line that makes holes and time for their quarterback, Jahmyr Gibbs that has a 99 speed and when he has an open lane, he will be reaching the end zone within seconds. Multiple receivers that can score at any moment, you have Amon-Ra St. Brown who is Mr. Reliable that will keep his head down and get the job done, Jameson Williams that will go speeds 0-100 from a slant pass to a deep ball, and 2nd year Isaac TeSlaa who will make a 1 hand catch at any moments to hear the fans scream. This is not even bringing up Sam LaPorta, one of the top Tight Ends in the NFL. This offense will be fun to watch, they all seem pretty healthy as of now, the only concern is RB2, but if Gibbs can score quickly, there will no need for RB2 in this offense.
The Detroit Lions Defense was one of the most injured teams in the NFL last year, and this year, it is still the same. Brian Branch, the big hitter, is out for a couple of weeks with an injury, the starting safety will be Avonte Maddox, who will have to step up big stopping the big pass plays. Another injured player is Kerby Joseph, who was Mr. Interception giving quarterbacks nightmare throwing the deep pass.
This team 2 years ago was 1 half away from the Super Bowl, last year was very disappointing even though there were many big wins, but this year, this year is the year we should be ready for. The young players are maturing, the big time players are still making big time plays, and they will have to win whoever is in their way, and for this game, it is the New Orlean Saints.
The Saints have a quick offense with Travis Etienne Jr. at running back and Chris Olave as WR1, but the biggest thing that is needed is the pass rush to make it hard for Tyler Though. The Detroit Lions have Hutchinson back and healthy and Derrick Moore, a Michigan Alum that will be able to control the outside gaps and give the QB no time.
My prediction is the Detroit Lions win pretty easily, last year Jahmyr Gibbs had a very quiet first game against the Packers week 1, and that situation will not happen this time. Expect a couple of long touchdowns for this Detroit Lions offense.
