Try to come at J Cole... Best not miss!
J Cole has caught my eye with his music since I was in 8th grade listening to "Nobody's Perfect" in the back of the car going to basketball practice. And since then, he has been my favorite artist with his smooth lyrics and meaningful quotes that can be remembered forever. Throughout the years he has MANY well known songs, from "4 Your Eyez Only" to "Crooked Smile" and my personal favorite "Love Yourz". He has created hype music, emotional music, and music that just hits the soul.
Then there is other times where other artists try to come at J Cole, and with that, he makes a comeback better than the Patriots vs Falcons in the Superbowl. This last couple of weeks, Kendrick Lamar has called out J Cole in one of his raps. Stating in the song, "Like That", "M- the big three... it's just big me" stating he does need J Cole. A couple days later, J Cole released a album called "Might Delete Later" with one song being a diss song called "7 Minute Drill". I have listened to the song, and to be honest, I am pretty impressed. A part of the song that I thought was mostly about him was the line,
"He still doin' shows, but fell off like the Simpsons
Your first s*** was classic, your last s*** was tragic
Your second s*** put to sleep, but they gassed it
Your third s*** was massive and that was your prime
I was trailin' right behind and I just now hit mine
Now I'm front of the line with a comfortable lead
How ironic, soon as I got it, now he want somethin' with me"
The ways he can use lines and connect it perfectly to the person shows as if he is a veteran to this... and to be honest, he is, because this is not the first time he had rap back to a person. He has had songs like, "Everybody Dies" calling out "Lil Whatever" rappers, "1985" and "False Prophets" calling out unnamed rappers who have aimed at him and their songs. He has held his grown, and has clapped back at anyone that has been going for him. Curious after this album if anyone wants to come back at him, but if they try to, they best not miss...
