Detroit Lions 2024 Draft Class Reaction

Before even talking about the players that were drafted from this 2024 NFL draft, it is incredible how the city of Detroit always shows out whenever they are hosting a big event. Over 750,000 fans in 3 days is so impressive and it shows all Detroit sports that if you win games, they will come. Hopefully the city will start winning like the Lions have done this previous year and the fans will start showing up more. So personally, I thought Detroit did a pretty good job with their draft picks and for them to draft players that they need, not just players that are available. Here are the players that the Detroit Lions have selected and predictions of how they are going to be.

First round, 24th overall pick, Terrion Arnold. A corner from Alabama that was an all american last year. I love this pick a lot knowing what Detroit needs and looking at his highlights, he is not afraid to get up on a receiver and hold is own on his own island. He's got that energy that will match with his now teammates on defense and will not be afraid to run to the ball. A clip that I did love seeing was that he was expressing his understanding with he previous football Nick Saban was yelling at him for a play he had messed up and instead of talking back or giving attitude, he listened and did not make that mistake again. That is the type of player that will do well in the league and will succeed as a Detroit Lion.

2nd round, 61st overall pick, Ennis Rakstraw Jr.. A defensive back from Missouri that shows that he has the capability to be a key ball player. I know high school does not mean much, but to go to Duncanville in high school and play shows you got that dog in you and ready to play at any moment. He has also created a winning culture in Missouri which is incredible to see so it shows he does not go to schools just to follow. He is another press cover player that had good stats with his pass defending. Excited to see how he plays and if he can step up to do what the Lions unfortunately could not do last year.

4th round, 126 overall pick, Giovanni Manu. He is an offensive lineman from British Columnia and he seems like a player that nobody knew about besides the Lions. He was interviewed after the draft and when asked what position he plays his response was to play a position that would get him on the field, and that is the kind of response Campbell loves to hear. He has an incredible side of being 6 foot 7 weight 350 pounds. His combine looks with him being able to jump and be agile, I would love to see him get some playing time and succeed with the rest of the incredible Detroit Lions offensive line.

4th round, 132 overall pick, Sione Vaki. The reason why I love this pick so much is because he will be a 3 way player which will be helpful for the Detroit Lions. While playing at Utah he showed his abilities to play both running back and safety which shows the team that he will play whichever will help the team more. I love players like this because it mostly shows that he is just a football guy and can do all things. Another key thing that will be happening with some rules changing is that he will be playing kick return, because with the new rules, it will not be the same old kick it pas the end zone and no return. He will be used with whatever makes Detroit succeeds and I am excited for it.

6th round, 189 overall pick, Mekhi Wingo. Another player that will help some open positions for the Detroit Lions defense. He shows his is a big player that can make some pass rush which I would love this season. He played 8 games with 4.5 sacks this pass year. Hopefully he proves himself and can help that pass rush this year that is so desperately needed.

6th round, 210 overall pick, Christian Mahogany. A massive offensive guard from Boston College who was first team all ACC this past year. I like to trust Campbell when he decides what players he wants to be a Detroit Lion so when he picks a big guy who can pass block and make holes for the offensive line, I am here for it. Hopefully he will be a successful backup who will be ready to go in when needed.
