The heroes of March Madness (So far)

This is the greatest sports month of the entire year... Buzzer beaters, upsets, blowouts, those are always expected throughout the first 2 rounds of the tournament. When the game ends, they do highlight video to a perfect song of, "One Shining Moment". And with that... here are the players that experienced March Madness's, "One Shining Moment".

This one may have been the biggest one of this years March Madness. Jack Gohlke, is an absolute problem at the 3 point line. This player does not even start from the team, but he is the main player they go to when they need some points. He was in 2nd place for most 3 point makes for this year in the NCAA with 121. The best part is... HE ONLY MADE EIGHT BASKETS THAT WERE NOT BEHIND THE ARC! He made an incredible 10 threes to upset #3 ranked Kentucky, and making 6 threes against North Carolina State. Each shot looking smoother than the shot before. He immediately started to get NIL deals right after the Kentucky game, some big ones being Buffalo Wild Wings and Barstool Sports. I wish him the best for whatever he does, but this man is the definition of a "One Shining Moment".

This one is my personal favorite because this man has been playing his same game throughout the last couple of years, the only difference is that it is happening under the big lights. DJ Burns has been the rock of this NC State basketball team as he is the post man and given the ball when the team needs a basket. NC State went from a 10 seed in the ACC tournament, and expected to have their season cut early, to multiple upsets and winning the ACC championship. With his post moves, spin moves, and incredible passes... now they are all the way to the sweet 16. I am curious what his next moves are after the college career is over, weather if he attempts to go to the NBA or something else, but he will always be one of my favorite players of the 2023-2024 basketball season.

Joe Girard has not been a huge talk throughout March Madness this year, but his story is pretty remarkable and knowing they have made it to the sweet sixteen is pretty impressive. Joe Girard first caught my attention from his high school abilities. I still remember seeing him on Twitter of a point guard from New York that averaged around 49 points a game. He was an absolute problem on iso and could make any shot behind the 3 point line. He spent his first 4 years playing for Syracuse averaging 12 his freshman year, 9 his sophomore year, 14 his junior year, and 16 his senior year. He then transferred from Syracuse to Clemson (Kind of funny because they wear almost the same exact orange), and he has been doing great there now averaging 15 points a game. I have not watched a lot of their games but while watching them in the March Madness Tournament, he is shooting from anywhere, and most of the time... that shot goes in.
"I'm two days into college, and three lectures behind" That is what I used to think when I saw him on ESPN or playing his games. Now all I can think is, "Wow, this guy can play". I have watched him throughout the season, and he has done pretty well averaging 14 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists per game. In many big games, he usually is one of the players that steps up. The first game against North Carolina he scored 23 points. This previous game against James Madison, he scored 30 points and shot 8-11 from the 3 point line. He most likely will be a 1 and done, but he is one of the most well known college basketball players this year, and has been crushing it.
