Best NFL Basketball Players of All Time
All I keep seeing on social media after the all star weekend is CJ Strout going off in the celebrity basketball game scoring over 30 points. Everyone on social media for some reason forget that most pro athletes were good at more than just one sport. Yes, Deion Sanders and Bo Jackson were a different breed and were professional athletes in 2 sports... but there are many others that used to play multiple sports in high school and college as well. Here is a list of the top 5 NFL players that were good at basketball at either high school or college.
3.) Jimmy Graham: It makes sense why Jimmy Graham's touchdown celebration was to dunk the football through the goal posts. Back when he was in college he played football and basketball he played at the University of Miami and even though his basketball stats were not the best, averaging at best 5 points a game, the team made it to March Madness where on the first round he scored 9 points and 7 rebounds which was pretty impressive. He had a big built where he could take over in the post and get multiple rebounds. Very impressive how successful he was in both sports he played and if he learned a jump shot, maybe he could've played in the NBA.2.) Antonio Gates: He is the top player in college to actually be a top player in both basketball and football for his school. In 2002 he was averaging 20.2 points a game and brought his team to the elite 8. Knowing the team also was not a power 5 team, but Kent State beating Oklahoma State, Alabama, and Pittsburg along the way in March Madness. I am very surprised he didn't get drafted in the NBA because he proved himself to everyone playing amazing throughout the seasons. He has made the correct choice because he is a multiple all-pro and a hall of famer in the NFL, the man just succeeds with whatever he does.
1.) Randy Moss: I understand Randy Moss did not play college basketball, but his high school career in basketball was so successful, it surpasses some of the other players who did play college basketball. Randy Moss was West Virginia basketball player of the year over his own teammate... Jason Williams who played in the NBA! He averaged 30 points, 13.7 rebounds, 5.1 steals, 3.8 blocks, and 3.1 assists his senior year, which is outrageous numbers. He could have gone to basically any power 5 school and could have made it to the show. I think just like Antonio Gates, he made the best decision because he may be the greatest NFL wide receiver of all time.
Looking at some of these athletes... maybe NFL has the most athletic athletes with knowing how many have been able to succeed in multiple sports and could have given the options of which sport they wanted to play in college.
