Summer Rankings
We are in the PRIME of summer right now and get to experience all of the great things. I count summer from Mid May to Early September, and that gives you ENDLESS possibilities to do all amazing things! Here is my personal list of the top 5 things to do in the summer.
1. Beach
Obvious #1 of things to do in the summer. The beach has unlimited things you can do there. Tan, float in the waves, Boogie Board in the waves, fishing, play volleyball, eat a sandwich, literally anything you want. But the only thing necessary there are big waves, a towel, and the sun. Everything else is just a plus. You don’t see people sad or angry at the beach. The only time you see that happen is when an older sibling is picking on the younger sibling or refusing to share their beach toys. You can go to the beach and stay for an hour and just go in, walk on the sand, then go home. Or you can stay they for 10 hours, prepare everything in advance, lunch, snacks, drinks, umbrella, and stay from sun up to sun down, no matter how you do it, the beach is where it’s at.
2. Amusement Park
With me being old now, this is not personally MY ranked #2 things to do in the Summer. This is for my 12 year old version of me. To spend a day with your siblings and friends running around an amusement park is unlike anything else. Your parents give you a couple of dollars for a soda and a game, you are on top of the world. From the popular roller coaster rides that takes 45 minutes to wait for, to the water rides, to the arcade, to the splash zone, you can easily turn this into an 8 hour event and not even do a ride multiple times. The sun is on you as you run from off one ride to the next. Bring me back to those times and I will be there before you know it.
3. Going on a Boat
Now this one is not for everyone. I unfortunately did not have a friend group where one of them was “The Boat Guy”. I didn’t get to experience it much, but recently I have been able to experience it, and I should’ve just made friends with “The Boat Guy” when I was in elementary school. The preparation of being the boat to the lake and cleaning is a lot to do, but when you have your food and drink and the wind is hitting your face, it is all worth it. Fishing on the boat, tubing, driving around, anchoring and jumping in the water are all amazing events. It’s a perfect event when you have some time and the weather is perfect.
4. Just Staying Inside
It’s a Saturday morning and you see from 9 AM - 6 PM it will be over 95 degrees the entire time, sometimes you just want to stay inside. I personally would like to do that more often than not, but nothing wrong with mentally thinking it is a rainy day and you have to stay in. Movies, TV shows, video games, maybe a good ole nap, these events are as exciting as the previous 3.
5. Barbecue
But when it is a Saturday and the weather is under 95 degrees… that is when you have yourself a barbecue with friends and families to chill with. Food, drinks, predicting the record of your favorite football team in the upcoming fall, maybe a little 2 hand touch football in the backyard, this is when you got all the time in the world. Nothing needed besides food, a place to sit, and some ice cold drinks
