July 24th… The Most Underrated National Day

There are hundreds, and I mean HUNDREDS of National Holidays. There can be holidays for literally anything, National Blame Someone Else Day, National Talk Like a Pirate Day, National Corndog day, there are literally anything. Some can be serious, some can be motivational, some can be goofy, but the one that is on July 24th is a National day that is so important, that 99% of people in the United States have experienced this. This Holiday is so monumental that it upsets me that I am just learning it now. The day is… National Drive-Thru Day. 

Now this National Day has been saving people time and steps for years! When coming home from a sporting event, on the way to school, coming home from a long day of work, or just when you are not in the mood to make yourself a meal or sit in a restaurant, the Drive Thru is always there for you. 

The Drive Thru was first documented in 1947 in Springfield, Missouri in a restaurant called "Red's Giant Hamberg". It was then created with a two-way intercom in 1948 with the restaurants Burger King and In-N-Out. Think about how crazy it was experiencing that for the first time… You sit in your car order whatever you like, a burger, fries, and a coke, gives the worker cash, and just like that, you are taking a bite of the burger while sitting in the driver seat, that must be the craziest moment ever. 

Now since then, 79 years later, and the Drive Thru is still thriving, probably even more than it should be. The Drive Thru has probably been used by over tens of millions of times with fast food restaurants all around the world. 

This holiday is a holiday where everyone can celebrate, go out there and get a Morning Coffee, or a lunch time McDonalds Meal, or a Chic Fil A Sandwich with a iced cold Diet Coke, because that is the way you celebrate the big day.
