The Blue Blood Rivalry
Death. Taxes. And sports rivalries is what gets everyone through their lives. Most adults have to go through a LONG 5 day work week of sitting at a desk, half doing work/ have listening to some random podcast, and counting down the minutes until you get to go home and have a Digiorno pizza with 2 beers. But then we get to experience something that makes those 5 days of agony worth it, and it's sports rivalries. It can be football, it can be basketball, it can be ping pong. A rivalry is a rivalry and it will get me on the couch fully invested. A rivalry unlike any other, is the Blue Blood Rivalry. I cannot say I am a die hard fan of the rivalry, but this is a rivalry that gets the blood flowing. The Hansbrough broken nose, the Eric Montross bloody face, the buzzer beaters, the legendary players, THIS IS WHAT THE PEOPLE NEED. Usually this rivalry is huge no matter what, there are times they are unranked and its still sold out ready to watch this game, but this one is what the fans have been waiting for. #7 ranked Duke will be traveling their 19 miles to Dean E. Smith Center to face off #3 North Carolina. Personally, I am expecting some fireworks from this game, a lot of key players that have been playing this rivalry for awhile and also a couple of rookies experiencing this rivalry for the first time. For North Carolina some of the key veteran players they got are R.J. Davis averaging 21.5 points a game and Armondo Bacot averaging 13.4 points and 10 rebounds a game. These guys have been at UNC for so long, that in their freshman year they had to wear masks and couldn't eat in restaurants. Duke has a much younger team with the stat leader and sophomore Kyle Filipowski with 17.5 points and 8.7 rebounds a game, and the tiktok king freshman Jared McCain with 12.5 points a game. Knowing both teams' top player are big men is great to watch, feels like the good old days when the big men were breaking backboards and not being able to dribble. So make sure you got your chores done and your drinks cold and ready. I know it's not March, but I am expecting MADNESS.
