The Awards are a Joke

I am not a fan of awards to be completely honest. The voting is usually crap and never make sense, but I think this year may have been the craziest honors awards I have seen. Some of them were well deserving and made sense, and others were very... strange.

It is not that Lamar Jackson won the NFL MVP, I think he had a great season, made the team great and successful, and got the job done. But for him to get 49 of the 50 votes for him to be the MVP is insane to me. There has been 2 times where the NFL has had a QB to be unanimous for MVP, it was Tom Brady where the Patriots were 14-2 with his 36 touchdowns and 4 interceptions and then there was Lamar Jackson in 2019 where 14-2 with 36 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. This years' Lamar Jackson went 13-4 with 24 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. This is a much different season than those unanimous MVP seasons, but knowing he got 49 votes with those stats is pretty insane to me. I do think he deserves the MVP this year, but getting 49 votes out of the 50 will not make sense to me.

I think Christian McCaffrey and Myles Garrett both really deserved their offensive/defensive player of the year awards this year. They had great seasons and proved their abilities.

Offensive and Defensive Rookie of the years were very well deserved also. I think the Panthers have made the biggest mistake ever with not taking C.J. Strout, but that is what you get when you care about computer scores and not raw playing abilities.

The Coach of the Year award is where I know that the NFL awards are fake and a complete waste of time. The Cleveland Browns head coach getting it over Dan Campbell may be the craziest thing I have ever seen. The Cleveland Browns had a successful season, they went 11-6 and made the playoffs. They got destroyed to the Texans in the first round. But Dan Campbell made the playoffs AND won 2 rounds in the playoffs. He won them a playoff round for the first time since before I was born, then won another playoff game, and almost made it to the Super Bowl. AND HE ONLY RECEIVED VOTES FROM 15 OF THE 50 BALLOTS. ARE YOU INSANE?

Do not getting me started with Joe Flacco winning it over Damar Hamlin for comeback player of the year. One of them came back to the NFL and won a couple of games, one of them CAME BACK TO LIFE AND PLAYED THE NFL AGAIN. You be the judge of that one.

The only awards I will care about now for the NFL is the Super Bowl Champions and that is it... None of the awards mean anything and the voting is just a waste.
