Sheetz... put some respect on their name
As a young boy living in Connecticut, gas stations were for... gas, bathroom break, gummy bears, and a soda. After that, you pay for your stuff, get what you needed, and get back to your car and keep on with your car rides. But when on a road trip, we stopped at a gas station we have not heard of before, and it was shocking to see what was there to try. I've seen this place, "Sheetz" that I now know are only in 5 states, mostly in North Carolina and Ohio, then some in Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland. And what I will say... this place is more than just gummy bears and a diet coke.
As you walk in and go to the food section, they have pre made food to eat, or you can order food. On a Tuesday morning, instead of going to a sit down diner, or a fast food place, I actually got my sausage egg and cheese on a biscuit at a gas station... and it was GOOD. The cheese was melted, the biscuit held its own, the eggs were cooked, and the sausage had some flavoring to it, it was everything I need for the morning. Reasonably priced as well, you are going on a car ride and you want to stop somewhere to fill gas and get some fuel to eat before the trip begins, this could be the place for you. They have other breakfast sandwiches, breakfast burritos/quesadillas, and even breakfast pizzas. If you are getting your day started and looking for something quick to eat in the morning, this could be a go to place for you to start.I am not usually there for the breakfast though, I am there for the quick lunch/dinner food to have, and that is where I think they thrive in. I have 2 main things that I love to get there... a buffalo chicken wrap and the sheetz "saladz" where you can also customize any of the meals you want. I was doing some crazy things with my salad, putting chicken and fries in it, making it unhealthier obviously, but made it much tastier. The food options are amazing burger meals, wraps, sandwiches and even some crazier things I did not even think of. Putting mozzarella sticks in a burger or sandwich? Now we are talking! It was very impressive and was not expecting for me to enjoy it as much as I did.The last of many positive things about the sheetz food, is the late night foods to get there. It is late, want to stop at the gas station to fill the tank before going home, why not buy a bunch of finger foods to munch on as you make it home to go to bed late at night? Mozzarella sticks, pretzels, samplers, taquitoz, loaded platter, chicken, there are UNLIMITED options and there is nothing there I would shake my head no to, to try.
This is my first "food review" and yes I picked a gas station, I thought it was impressive to stop and eat, worth the price, and can even make the dish personal to things you like.
Get it, try it, enjoy it.
